The American Indian programs at UC Santa Barbara strive to develop new generations of educated native and non-native peoples who will study and contribute to the building of indigenous communities. Our goals include recruitment and retention practices that enable indigenous students to complete their academic programs at UCSB while providing a challenging curriculum for undergraduate and graduate students in American Indian and Indigenous Studies that encompasses a variety of disciplines, utilizes university resources, and reflects an accurate portrayal of indigenous peoples within historical, social and contemporary areas.
